What is an antenatal educator?

An antenatal educator is someone who specialises in educating and supporting expectant parents throughout pregnancy and in the early days of parenthood.

An antenatal educator should have completed a Federation of Antenatal Educators (FEDANT) accredited qualification in antenatal education and be registered with FEDANT. All registered antenatal educators must continue updating and adding to their knowledge to remain on the FEDANT register. An antenatal educator may also hold other titles such as breastfeeding peer supporter, hypnobirthing instructor, midwife or doula.
