Antenatal and Postnatal
Qualified Breastfeeding Counsellor
The journey through breastfeeding is something that is personal and individual to each mother and her baby.
Many mother's understand the benefits to breastfeeding, however the Infant Feeding Survey (2010) highlighted the importance of good quality breastfeeding support both in the antenatal and postnatal periods enabling mother's to reach their own breastfeeding goals.
It was my own breastfeeding journey's which lead to where I am today; supporting other mother's and their babies. I have 13 years experience in providing breastfeeding support both in the community (group sessions) and busy postnatal hospital wards (1-1 support). My qualifications include Open University accredited peer support and more recently Foundation Degree in Birth and Beyond - specialising in Breastfeeding Counselling.
I offer antenatal breastfeeding sessions which are guided by research and aim to explore topics which parents highlight as important to them, as well as one to one postnatal breastfeeding support.
Group Antenatal Breastfeeding Workshop

£65 (please contact directly to book 1-1 Antenatal Breastfeeding Workshop)
If you're considering breastfeeding or if you're not 100% sure breastfeeding is for you, then this is the workshop for you.
Breastfeeding is of course natural however, the skills to breastfeed are something which require a learning process and practice for both yourself and your baby.
Support and information in the antenatal period with breastfeeding are paramount in enabling you to reach your breastfeeding goals and will better equip you for when your baby arrives.
The Antenatal Breastfeeding Workshop will cover:
Position and attachment of your baby at the breast
How to identify if breastfeeding is going well
Common challenges to breastfeeding and how to overcome these challenges
Expressing, storing breastmilk, feeding out and about, mixed feeding and using formula milk
Identifying ways in which fathers/partners can develop relationships with their babies and how they can support you on your breastfeeding journey
Identifying when and where to go for extra support
Although the workshop is predominantly aimed at breastfeeding, there will also be some information about bottle feeding, including where to find the latest guidance.
It is encouraged that fathers/partners attend the Antenatal Breastfeeding Workshop as there will be information provided which they may find useful.

Age 4 weeks - 6 months
Certified Birthlight Baby Massage Teacher
We understand the benefits of skin to skin for both mother and baby in the immediate postnatal period and beyond. Baby massage incorporates a different approach to skin to skin through the use of touch.
The benefits to baby massage for your baby include; calming and relaxing your baby, stimulating their sensory system, aiding digestion, toning their muscles, easing pain, strengthening and regulating their heart rate and respiratory system and developing sleep patterns.
Ultimately, baby massage provides communication and bonding between you and your baby through the use of touch.
I facilitate both group and 1-1 sessions of baby massage with the aim of introduction of baby massage in a calming environment, which allows both baby and mother/parent to experience relaxation, as well as bonding through touch, song and gentle movement.
The introduction of gentle movement and relaxation for baby and mother/parent throughout the baby massage sessions provides a taster of baby yoga, with baby yoga courses available from age 12 weeks+.

Certified Birthlight Baby Yoga Teacher
Suitable for baby's from 12 weeks+ baby yoga develops the use of gentle movement incorporated throughout the baby massage sessions and can be provided as a progression from the baby massage course or as a stand-alone course.
The benefits of baby yoga are similar to those produced through baby massage and include;
Strengthening of the physical body
Develops practice to improve digestion and relief for colicky babies
Balance and harmony of the body systems
Helps babies to move from reflex to volunatry movements
Furthers stimulation of all of the senses
Helps to settle babies and improve sleep patterns
Continues the development of communication between baby and mother/parent
Continuing development of the brain and nervous system and a celebration of each babies individuality!
It incorporates yoga based movement for both baby (developing from reflex to voluntary movement) and mother (aiding postnatal recovery), as well as integrating some of the massage techniques introduced throughout the baby massage course.
Relaxation for both mother and baby is an integral part of both baby massage and baby yoga - adapting relaxation methods that mothers/parents can utilise with baby on board. There are numerous benefits to relaxation but ultimately it reduces stress and tension, whilst promoting a sense of wellbeing and happiness.
